Partner-level counsel for the moments that matter.
A senior communications partner for CEOs and CMOs. We advise on launches, raises, acquisitions, executive visibility, and the hard days, then help your team and ours execute with one narrative.
Why this service exists
The highest-stakes decisions are made before anyone writes a pitch.
When to announce. What to say about a down quarter. Whether the CEO should do the interview. How the acquisition story sounds to customers, employees, and reporters on the same morning. These calls shape coverage more than any outreach list. They deserve a senior advisor who has made them before.
- A funding announcement lands the same week as a competitor's larger round.
- The board hears one story, investors another, and the press a third.
- A difficult question arrives from a reporter with a two-hour deadline.
- The CEO is visible, but on topics that do not support the business.
- Communications planning happens one announcement at a time.
How advisory works
A standing partnership, not a hotline.
-
Onboarding and risk map
In the first month we interview leadership, review past coverage and investor materials, and build a map of upcoming moments and known risks for the next four quarters.
-
Quarterly communications plan
Each quarter starts with a written plan: announcements, executive visibility targets, narrative priorities, and the coverage we expect to pursue. It is reviewed with the CEO or CMO and revised as the business moves.
-
Standing counsel
A recurring leadership session plus direct access to your partner between calls. We review major announcements, executive interviews, board communications, and sensitive internal messages before they go out.
-
Moment playbooks
For each launch, raise, acquisition, or leadership change, a playbook covering sequence, audiences, embargoes, spokespeople, and contingencies, aligned with legal and finance where needed.
-
Preparation and training
Media training, interview briefings, and crisis tabletop exercises so executives walk into each conversation with the key messages and the hard answers already tested.
Deliverables
What the retainer includes.
Counsel is only useful when it is written down. Every recommendation arrives in a form your team can act on and your board can read.
- Four-quarter moments calendar and risk map
- Quarterly communications plan with priorities and targets
- Recurring leadership sessions with a named partner
- Announcement playbooks for launches, raises, and M&A
- Board-ready narrative and investor update language
- Crisis readiness kit: holding statements, escalation paths, spokesperson roles
- Media training sessions and interview briefing documents
- Executive visibility plan: topics, platforms, and target outlets
Fit check
Who this is for. Who it is not for.
Built for
- CEOs of venture-backed companies, Series A and later, with a raise, launch, or exit ahead.
- CMOs and communications leads who want a senior outside partner.
- Enterprise and multi-location brands managing many spokespeople and markets.
- Leadership teams preparing for scrutiny: a new market, a regulator, a public listing.
Not a fit
- Freelancers, solo consultants, and side projects.
- Teams looking for occasional ad hoc advice without a standing relationship.
- Pre-product startups without a clear category.
- Active public-company crises that need a large around-the-clock crisis firm as the lead.
Common questions
Answered before the call.
Who will I actually work with?
A partner. Advisory is never delegated to a junior account team. The partner on your account joins leadership calls, reviews every major announcement, and is reachable when something moves quickly.
What does advisory cost?
Strategy and advisory is a partner retainer from $10,000 per month. It is usually added to another engagement, such as an Authority Retainer or a Tier-One Launch, so the counsel and the execution sit with the same team. The minimum term for retainers is six months.
Can we hire you for advisory only?
Occasionally, for CEOs and CMOs who already have a strong in-house or agency team and want an outside senior voice. Most clients get more value pairing advisory with execution, because the counsel turns directly into pitches, bylines, and briefings.
Do you handle crisis communications?
We build crisis readiness: risk mapping, holding statements, escalation paths, spokesperson preparation, and tabletop exercises. When an active incident needs a large around-the-clock response, such as a public-company event under regulatory scrutiny, we work alongside a specialist crisis firm and your legal counsel.
How do you support funding and M&A announcements?
We shape the narrative for the announcement, align it with investors and counterparties, sequence the press, customer, and employee communications, and prepare executives for interviews. Timing, embargoes, and disclosure constraints are planned with your legal and finance teams.
What does media training involve?
Working sessions with your spokespeople built around the questions reporters on your beat actually ask. We run mock interviews on camera and on the phone, review the recordings, and tighten answers until the key messages hold under pressure.
